Maquette Series:
This new series is a nostalgic return to the 1970s, during which I pioneered my “pillow” sculpture. Over time, my sculptures grew larger and larger which was challenging and rewarding in the lessons I learned. After a short hiatus during the COVID pandemic, I decided to revert to my initial concept where I envisioned the works to be very large, outdoors, and crafted from aluminum or other metals capable of enduring the elements. The maquette would be sent to a foundry to create an enlarged work, basing the dimensions suitable for the piece’s intended location.
Working on a smaller scale offers greater flexibility and has already presented me with new and novel ideas as I transform both my approach and concept.
